WHY STUDY THE WORD OF GOD?
This is a question that you might ask yourself. Why should I study the Bible? Well, you might also ask why should I study science, mathematics, history, English, or many other things .We study because we want to learn , to be well-informed, and to be knowledgeable about various things. Studying keeps us up-to-date on matters concerning our welfare, and our well-being.
We need to study God’s word to obtain His approval.“ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”(2 Tim. 2:15)By rightly dividing the word of truth, we are to understand that we must continue in the true doctrine, and teaching of our Lord, and Master, Jesus Christ. That person is blessed who continues in God's word day, and night. (Psa. 1:1,2) Too many Christians spend more time reading the books of men rather the book of God. Reading these other books are some times necessary, but don't neglect Bible reading. Don't neglect the message from heaven. "Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them."(Isa. 34:16)
A blessing is pronounced upon those who read, and practice those things contained within this sacred book.(Rev. 1:3)There are many blessings bestowed in the Bible and we must study to obtain them. Study is not a waste of time, but an improvement. Bible reading gives us an understanding of God's will." Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ." (Eph 3:4)The books of men will become outdated, while the book of God remains forever.
